The Revolution of 1961/2.

Sold, sorry.

Okay, nobody went on the barricades – but in the working environment a lot has changed in the sixties, even with the bosses. In the classic Kontor, the merchant sat behind a massive desk to do his job. But this work changed in the course of the 20th century: In the past, a company was mainly run in writing, through correspondence with instructions to branches, letters to business partners and banks, notes, memos and so on. But with the change in management tasks, more and more was discussed orally, more conference rooms were needed, the „meeting culture“ came into play (and at some point took over – but that’s another topic).

And if you constantly have meetings with department heads or meetings with employees, you don’t really need a desk anymore – you need a „talking table“. This idea inspired Florence Knoll to create her „Executive Office Design“ in 1961, an elegant revolution in the world of office furniture.

A typical example was the „Pedestal Table Desk“, floating on a central leg with four diagonally projecting feet.

After a long time we found a Pedestal Table Desk again, the small version with a length of 1,98 m and a fantastic warm walnut plate.
