„Does it make sense to design a chair that is not comfortable to sit on?“

Sold, sorry.

That was the question Yrjö Kukkapuro asked himself around 1960 – and then he began working on the design for a lounge chair. The Karuselli Chair saw the light of day in 1964, was presented at the Cologne Furniture Fair in 1965, hit like a bomb, which in turn led to Gio Ponti, then editor-in-chief, putting it on the cover of DOMUS in 1966.
Since then the Karuselli Chair has had many prominent supporters, Sir Terence Conran declared it his favourite chair, it was part of the equipment of RaumpatrouilleOrion and so on…
We currently have an early version in the showroom, black upholstery on a black shell. And it’s looking for a new home.
